So, I'm contemplating the use of Probiotic (earthworm septic) in one of my tanks. Will this have a negative impact on my bb? Also anyone using probiotics, have you noticed improvement with fish growth? Thanks

Just in case you haven't read the following.......

To answer your questions, no, and probably not. Growth is very subjective, and unless one is monitoring identical systems with identical test subjects it would be impossible to say how much growth is being affected. Having said that, there are enough papers and studies to support the fact that in test fish species, with certain bacteria, growth has been increased, organics have been decreased, and the non pathogenic (probiotic) bacteria has outcompeted pathogenic bacteria.

Thanks RD. I did read that which is what has spurred me to give it a go. I must have zoned out on the bb section though.

No worries axs, it's a rather long boring read so easy to miss various parts of that thread. With regards to BB, the key is to make sure that the BB is well established, and the tank has adequate 02 levels. If both of those are covered you will have no issues.

I'll try this as well to take out the sludge and build up in my pipes and everything else.

How about a step by step thread!? :)

First step, add to water. Second step, sit back & relax.

Lol, as simple as that sounds, I stiiill need pictures!! I'm a simple man lol. Where do you buy it? How do you dose it for an aquarium??

I went to Walmart today, bought a box of rid-x measured out 5 teaspoons full and dropped it in the sump... waiting to see any difference over the next few days.

I posted a link in post #2 of this discussion. Plenty of other members here added to my initial post, along with various products.
