Hey everyone, I'm new too the forums. Just picked up a 135 gallon tank over the weekend. I was in at my local lfs and fell in love with the motoro they had there so I began looking into them more. I was curious if anyone had any objections to a scobina ray? Tank dimensions are 72x24x20

Thanks

Id make sure it's actually a scobina. They're not commonly found especially in my country. If it's a scobina then they stay smaller than most or all Rays. Motoro gets big. The tank you've described is ok for now at least.

Is 20" tall or wide? How easy are scobina to find where you are? Cool ray, should be able to keep it for a bit in a 24" wide tank if you get a true scobina.

Post a pic of the scobina if you can, it will soon be ID'd. If it is a true scobina then I would buy it hands down over any motoro.
Motoro get BIG.
Your current tank is much better with a scobina or true hystrix in mind.

The size of the scobina is why I have more interest in it than others. Would it eventually outgrow the tank? What is their growth rate like? I'm from British Columbia, Canada. Vancouver Island to be exact. The store is just a local exotic pets store and I was talking to the owner about special orders on fish which turned into a little bit about his suppliers. He said he had a ray supplier in Vancouver that have a few different species and a smaller one that only reaches around 10" so from my research I figured it had to be a scobina. And the tank is 20" tall.

Your in bc? I doubt it is a scobina as a wild cought but I may be wrong. From what I know they look similar to motor until you get some size on the pups

We need some pictures of the pup someone here with more experience then me will be able to indenify it

Yeah I'm from BC. I guess I'll call the store and see if he can get pictures from the supplier or can confirm that they are scobina's. What about the other questions on the growth rate and if I would need a bigger tank in the future.

I very much doubt it's scobina he can get , chances are hystrix or mini marble male
Of both species stay under 10"
