I red wolf will get about 10 inches likely 8 so it could live in a 55 happily with out upgrading. Once it gets big it will kill almost everything the same size or smaller. The one drawback is it isn't super active. It just kinda sits there until it's hungry.
8 for sure and 10 inches if kept for years.

If the red wolf is introduced with other tankmates when small and fed regularly. And no live food then it can be kept with other smaller fish. I've done it before with success. Big space, plenty of decor, and fed regularly.

I've kept them befor with gouriamis, tetras, barbs and there's a considerable size difference. There wasn't an issue. There are some that will try to kill any fish but not the usual.

If u feed it 2-3 times per week it'll keep the fish more active but always a risk of eating other fish.

Like justarn mentioned armored cats will withstand nibbles. Larger will fish will be deterred due to size. But no aggressive fish like cichlids. Geos would be ok cause of size and lack of aggression.

A bad cichlid would be like a dovi or salvini. Just examples.

To have fish like these mentioned and co-habit without killing each other, u will need a larger tank.

Just to add that I've noticed that all the Reds I've kept especially don't like elongated fish. So needle nose gar will be an issue. Odoe pike will an issue if small once bigger the tides will change. Just thought I would add.

hmmm I quite like an active fish what about this stocking idea?
angle fish
gourami
sengal bichir
needle nose gar
rocket gar
rainbow snakehead or any other snakehead
jack Dempsey or convict cichlid or any other type
would that work or will everything try and kill eachover?

That sounds like ingredients for a bomb. I wouldnt put a gourami or an angelfish anywhere near snakeheads or gars for sure they really dont fit in at all with this mix. I believe snake heads are better off with only snake heads (with ample space). The JD and/or convict would be ok to add as currently stocked though I'm sure. I wouldnt recommend putting them with gars/snakeheads though either...
