Hi I just recently purchased four 2in MiDevil hoping to get a pair and a cichla (not sure which the guy said ocell but didn't sound sure)2in also. The cichla is in a 30g by himself and the midevil are in a 30g also. My cichla is doing great but on the other hand there is one midevil(my fav of the bunch) that consistently gets harassed by the rest. Would it be OK to move him with the cichla ??

A 55 would be better, add lots of deco and caves all over the tank and loads fake plants.
Any pics?
Midevil will beat the cichla if it's just them two guaranteed.

I would Possibly get another 2 midevil to disperse aggression further once in the 55, you will need a 5 foot 120g for a pair minimum so if you can get them in there and enjoy the lower more stable nitrates and faster growth.

Midevils are unpredictable! One day they will be fine and then can kill the whole tank. Trust me happened to me but a F1 Midas did this. What trigger this was he was breeding and I had no idea.

They are kinda hard to find where I am(Cleveland) and don't want to go thru the hassle with getting them shipped... I heard all of the terrible shipping stories

....like giant Convicts, aren't they?

The females aren't so bad, but the males experience serious mental problems as soon as that hump grows and "starts pushing on their brain" lol....it's like a 2nd brain.....1 is the angel on his shoulder telling him to "chill", and the other 1 is the devil on his other shoulder telling him to "kill".

Amphilophus males are the only fish I could never get to coexist in aggressive community tanks. Just too damn savage, especially to each other. Most of the time you need a perforated divider just to breed them without one getting beat-up or worse.
