Paroon shark pond outside in NY?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yep. I've been on a lookout for one for a year now. No luck.

One thing is clear to me. At my present knowledge, it is unlikely I will ever be able to display a 4'-5' paroon at any point in my lifetime.

Haha, it's good to have dreams :)

I'm hoping to one day have something around 25,000 gallons (pond obviously) in the next 10 years or so and I'm seriously looking into it to see what kinds of costs are involved with it. My ultimate goal is to have a large pool where half of it is the pool, and the other half is a lazy river, with an island in the middle. That island would be the home of a large pond to house all my monster fish :)

I think I need to keep dreaming though ;)

It's much more interesting to observe your fish from a side view than only from the top.

What if we build on this island idea. How about a 50' round pond with a 5'-10' round acrylic cylinder lacking a top (so you could climb in) and sunken in the center of the pool, offering a 360 degree view, or better yet (to avoid view distortion by a curved window) a rectangle or cube acrylic fish tank of the right dimensions except you will be sitting inside the tank and the fish will be swimming outside checking you out, huh?

That way, you won't need to seal any windows, just sink the observation well.

I am mulling something like this for my 25'x25'x9'.

That would be pretty sweet. That would be some THICK acrylic though, or glass. It would take away valuable swimming space from the fish though, and it'd be a beach to keep it clean (you know what I mean).

Maybe an underwater viewing window so when you're underwater in the pool, you can see the fish. The only problem with that is the pool would have to be deep enough to scuba dive in, which is like 8 feet - my pool would probably get to 6 or 7 foot. And the pond won't be deep enough either, too hard to access

One can see more here http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/f...-sunken-a-fish-tank-inside-their-pond.660727/ but we are dragging this thread in an odd direction. We should stick to the topic, I think.
