NLS ingredient change ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Interesting maybe they didnt change the recipe on all the formulas. I just sent them an ail asking about the recipe for theraA and algaeamax

glad i do not use it, Kmuda not happy,

lol wail!

Honestly, I don't understand what all the hoopla is about? Lots of assumptions being made without most people even taking the time to contact the manufacturer about the label change, on this one formula. Some of you don't even feed this brand or formula. Must be slow in cyberspace.....

Neil i dont think anything we are discussing is too far out there. I only started the thread just to hear what other members have seen and what their thoughts on it were (specifically yours lol)

I am exchanging emails with them and will post the results of the convo later.

That being said i trust certain members opinions here more than a rep from any five company.

Intent was not to spread hysteria just hear more opinions and hoping that this was a mislabel or something

I guess I unintentionally stirred up a minor pot. There were two major changes to the Ingredient list that so far (best I can tell) have been applied to FLOAT 7.5mm Jumbo, the "Finicky Fish" formula, as well as Ich Shield and Hex Shield, which are of lesser concern. Thus far, it's what I phrase as the "New Label" NLS products.

The two ingredient changes shocked me when I received my FLOAT 7.5mm pellet.

"Whole Herring Meal" or "Whole Fish Meal" were not listed in the ingredients and the word "Meal" was dropped from ""Whole Antarctic Krill Meal". Any other company, absent the word "meal" or other designation such as "Whole Freeze Dried Krill", the phrase "Whole Antarctic Krill" would likely indicate Krill listed at its wet weight, which would almost certainly make Wheat the actual primary ingredient in the product fed to our fish.

Regardless, it was shocking to see a trusted company, with any of its product line, drop it's second primary protein (Whole Herring or Whole Fish) and potentially list it's remaining preferred protein (Krill) at its wet weight, likely resulting in wheat being the actual primary ingredient.... which would be shocking for an NLS product. A little like the Led Zeppelin writing a pop song for Britney Spears.

But I freely admit, I am a Tom Clancy fan and see a conspiracy with most everything. Nothing would make me happier to learn that these formula changes are restricted to select products, it's not something we will see trickle down into the remaining product line, and where the new formula is in effect, NLS has increased the quantity of Krill to compensate for the absence of "Whole Herring (or "Whole Fish") and that the absence of the word "Meal" from "Whole Antarctic Krill" is not an indication that Krill is being listed at its wet weight.... and as a result, Wheat is not the actual primary ingredient.

I've been switching back between NLS and Omega One, this isn't going to help their(NLS) case. Nothing more annoying than inconsistency....
