Breeding ball pythons

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I bet. And that's for sure anything is always possible! And I'm hoping it continues if not then that would really sucker since I don't have much of a back up. We will see in time I suppose
I tried putting another male in with them who was already in breeding mode to stimulate sexual competition - still nothing.

That's strange I guess he doesn't want to have you tried him with another female? Mine doesn't have a problem he will go back at it if I let him

Never tried him with another female....didn't need to...she did stuff to show him she was ready, like lifting her tail and spraying feces/pheromones on/at him.......not typical human mating behavior, but that's how snakes romance lol She was never the problem....at between 8-9 feet, she was ready to breed years before that.

Have you bred this male.before? Do you have other females? If so if you put him with them does he show intrest? I've heard that sometimes certain guys just don't take to a certain female and favor to other ones. I read that it helps to take the female and switch cages with another female and but the male in there the sent of the other female tricks them into mating with the female that he wouldnt. Or storms rain storms ect.

I tried everything you could possibly think of, my partner and I talked it over for months before I finally sold them out of frustration (back in Spring 2015). My Anacondas did something similar, but I also never got a clutch out of them, that's why they were in quotations and I didn't even mention the Carpets at 1st......I got them to MATE, but I couldn't get them to BREED/Produce.

Even tried producing an already existing Carpet-Ball Python hybrid by putting a Pastel AND a Cinnamon BP male in with her AND the Carpet male........still nothing. It's weird cuz both BP males were proven breeders AND were already breeding with other females at the time.

That sucks did you have them since they were small or did you buy them when they were older?
both....I got the female at about 6' and the male around 2.5'-3' had them both about 3 years. They had the whole 18-hour copulation like the day I got them and put them together ( introduced the female to the male's cage like you're supposed to do), then they were done after day 1 or 2. Normally I wouldn't put new snake in with another so soon without quarantine and inspection, but it was supposedly a reputable dealer I never had issues from, a great deal, and the start of breeding season, so I thought I came across a gold mine at the time finding 2 Irian Jayas in the same week ready to breed....

as we say in the reptile trade "If it seems too good to be true, it probably IS" :(

Ok so I just weighed my female bumblebee for my own knowledge instead of going off of what the breeder told me and he said she weighs 2500g. Well she weighs a little more than 1600. So my question is should I stop breeding her until late this upcoming season. She only had one confirmed lock should I just leave it at that? I just got a 2600g orange ghost female that is huge and chunky Imy guessing I should just breed her instead
