MY DOG WAS ATTACKED BY 2 PITBULLS TODAY

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hello; Well, yes they are. The numbers are that something around 60+ percent of fatal maulings are done by pitt bull types. I have some of the links saved if you wish to see for yourself. It some of the maulings the dogs were raised from pups and killed their owner (the person who raised them.) Fatal maulings of children are a considerabl portion.
Yes, it happens, however there are a PLETHORA of other dog breeds that can and do the same, you just don't hear about them because the media loves stories on Pitbulls. When I was a kid I grew up next to a 190lb German Rottweiler that attacked HIS owner, and I was afraid of Rottweilers for years.....

......only to grow older and realize that I was being silly for hating any breed/race/species just because of one instance. Food for thought, the Cocker Spaniel is responsible for more dog bites each year than any other dog....my Vet puts a muzzle on them IMMEDIATELY regardless of how "nice" they are.

You never hear about them though, because they don't have 2,000lb. PSI jaw strength and don't cause that kind of damage. Bad owners or bad breed?

Hello; That other breeds can and do cause fatal maulings is not in doubt. The issue is the sheer numbers. Let me put it this way. By the ststistics if there were 100 fatal maulings, then about 67 of the 100 would be by pit bulls.

a 190lb German Rottweiler that attacked HIS owner

Hello; If the rottweiler is added then the two types of dog account for around 72 of the 100 deaths by dog maulings. That leaves 28 deaths caused by all the other breeds combined. Not sure this is a PLETHORA, at least it is not to me.

So what you're saying is that if 72 people out of 100 were killed by hand guns, we should ban hand guns and ignore the fact that 28% of the people killed were from shotguns and rifles?
Wouldn't it make more sense to ban all guns?

What about the rest of the people who responsibly owned a gun and have had the self control to not kill someone? Why not reward them for not getting into trouble instead of punishing them for something that they weren't part of?

I'm not sure if I'm a thinker.
I'm just trying to show the holes in his argument.
I think my next dogs going to be a rescued pit just from this argument however..

You ever own one?
No. My rescued German Shepard never had a true home because she was born in a shelter and kept bouncing around homes until she was three. When we got her she was never socialized or ever had formal training and when we adopted her we had to deal with all sorts of issues with her. However now she's a dog that is a "success story" on the trainers website and we get calls asking for her to be brought in to help socialize other dogs.

gotta be careful socializing them as you may have noticed from this thread, but it can be done.....only problem is if it DOESN'T work out, breaking up a fight between 2 angry Pitbulls is scary and dangerous. I had to do it before when my oldest male got into a fight with one of his sons.

yea lol and that was just 1 person, 2 dogs.
