Shy Baby Oscar Fish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
In recent tests goldfish have been proven to have a memory of up to 9 months, and Oscar's are more intelligent then them, give it a few months of owning yours and studying it and you will be shocked at its intelligence

Yeah, I see the Oscar fish has a big head.. They seems to be smart compare to gold fish.

I actually believe that there is a study that shows that while cranial capacity has a affect on intelligence it's not everything. Look at the parrots small brain, but it's capability to mimic words.

My 2.5" Oscar is doing the same thing. I had him with other fish and now he is in a 55g alone. He just stays up top by the filter. Before he would come to the glass and would be excited for food. I thought maybe he was lacking oxygen at first so I lowered the temp and water level and still the same. I tested water and it is perfect.

If you are in a hurry for an outgoing oscar, maybe add some dither fish such as giants danios.

I was thinking about adding another large Oscar.

I do not know what is going on with this one. Now he/she is active and come up to the front. But he spits out every food I dump in the tank. (pellets, freeze dried black worms).

His/her stomach is not even bloat from the feeding.

I just did another 80% w/c and it's still the same. He/she needs some tank companion seriously.

Ya my first time owning an Oscar. I bought him and some other fish around 2.5". He was fine until I put him in a 55g alone. Back to normal now that a convict is with him.

The thing in my case is I do not want to add something that is more aggressive than Oscar nor a gold fish alike specie that will end up as lunch for Oscar.
