New Hystrix pup from Absolutely Fish

I just put a couple of worms in. The chopped got eaten by my angels and chalceus. 2 worms were nonchopped and I believe he ate one of them. He went over it and then his gills started moving rapidly which appeared to me like he was chewing. The 2nd full worm was placed right in front of him with no eating. I also put in some blackworms which he responded to by going to the spot they were dropped and doing the same gill thing.

I'm hoping that gill thing is him chewing?
 
Btw, he's moving out and about now.

Most likely. If he is eating the earthworms, I would skip the blackworms.

Absolutely Fish is one of the best run fish stores in NJ. Knowledgeable staff. Clean tanks. Healthy fish (they won't sell you a sick fish). Always something new to see. Good luck with your new ray. Hope it doesn't eat you out of house and home. Cool swimming, eating, and pooping machine. LOL!

That is great to know. I just saw him eat another worm which gives me a lot more confidence in it.
 
Once they eat one thing it's usually smooth sailing. My hystrix hybrid still won't take pellets, my only ray who won't.
 
I really really like this stingray. I'm finally undestanding why so many people are obsessed with these fish. Their behavior is amazing and I love how curious they are.

If only I can have more confidence in it eating. It is turning away krill and pellets. Has no interest. I fed it a bunch of ghost shrimp and he eats shopped worms but no dice on soaked krill.

Did you do a round of prazi? I'd like to think if it was at the lfs for a month it would be good to go, but better safe than sorry.

I haven't yet. Do you think I should? If so, do I dose following the instructions per hikari's recommendation or is dosing different with rays?

Also, here is an updated pic. Can you confirm that this is true Brazilian hystrix?
