I have had my female jaguar for approx. 6 years.
She is generally quite hardy and eats pellet good and on some occasions some treats such as crickets, blood worms or feeder fish

Whenever she lays eggs, she goes off her food for maybe a week and gets very aggressive. Then she eats her eggs and that's normal for her.

She hasn't laid eggs in a while but every couple of months she goes to her dug out area, goes off her food for a while and gets a bit aggressive. Again normal for her.

BUT this time has lasted too long.
She is staying still at the bottom of the tank and hasn't eaten for about 2 weeks.

Her water was changed not long ago and she has been fine up until now.

I've tried crickets, pellets and blood worms. She gets a bit worked up when I shake the pellets (normal for her when I feed her). But then goes back to the bottom to sit

PLEASE HELP. I've had her for 6 years and I'm worried.

Anyone,anything

filters? last time you cleaned them? how much water you take out? tank size? ammonia?nitrite? nitrate? tankmates?

lemme know the answers to these questions then i could see if i could help,i know jags pretty well

When I fish doesn't eat I know there is some issue. Since she is a little older and not laying eggs anymore like she does I might suspect some type of bladder or tumor issue possibly. Might be far fetched but treat with salt and clean water everyday.

This is one of the reasons I had to sell my 15.5." midas. If he died on me I would literally be depressed plus he was psychotic I have no doubt he can take a Dovii his size.

Filter cleaned maybe 4 weeks ago, which is my normal routine. The water is rain water. We normally change at least 50% of her water every month or so. I know people will say I should be doing it more often etc. however I've been doing the same routine for 6 years and she's generally a very happy fish. The tank is 4-5 foot tank with I'm guessing 260 litre capacity. She is been in this tank for 6 years with nil issues. No tank mates. Haven't tested for nitrates or ammonia. But I just think that's a bit odd considering her water wasn't changed long ago. And she has been in the same water much longer before.

I appreciate any help. Thanks so much

Sorry bout the dirty glass. My nieces have been around lol. She gets angry and hits the glass when I walk by. All of this behaviour is normal for her when she's spawning/laying eggs. But it's just going on too long

Sometimes issues with live feeding won't show up for a while. It's very risky feeding live, from an outside source. Internal parasites is the most common, but a whole rack of diseases can be introduced this way.
