Indoor bird aviary with pond inspiration needed

hay all you bird nerds out there I've been playing with the idea of building an aviary with ether SA species or Australian species. I plan to have a large indoor pond with respective fish species. I'm looking for some inspiration so if you could post some pics of what kinds of set ups y'all have id be grateful.



yes I have looked on google images but i would like to be able to talk to the people that own them.

Wish I could help, we've never been fans of caging things that should be able fly freely. Have you considered Penguins, Emus, Rheas, Ostriches, Cassowary, Kiwi?
 
If it was large enough I would think about Cassowary's but I was thinking more like a pair of eclectus parrots and a small flock of rainbow lorikeet between 5 and 10 birds. some small Australian ground birds if possibly. I was thinking of getting an out building so I'm still thinking on size of the building.

my grandmother was a parrot breeder and i don't have a problem with keeping birds but they need to be cared for properly with a lot of enrichment not just put in a cage

Why not go with gouldinian finches?

Add a preformed goldfish pond then you're off.

So you're wanting a complete biotope?

If you're doing that I'd go with a Congo biotope with African greys and tiger fish in a "river"

I want a biotype and I'm not super picky but one rule everything must get along. wouldn't a tiger fish eat a grey if it had the chance. one thing I was thinking about was a aviary with small cheap SA birds fish plants reptiles and amphibians with a Carver's dwarf caiman as the crown jewel. but thats a pipe dream,I love all animals and would probably get attached to something like a finch just in time to see it get eaten by the caiman.

but an African biotype would be really cool what lives around the rift lakes? as far as birds that wouldn't eat African cichlids.

You can do exactly what you guys are talking here, just forget the keystone carnivore. Let the birds be dominant, do cichlids, maybe some herbivorous aquatic turtles, catfish/plecos, ....but instead of a tank, make it a "2-Level pond with a window" like they have in zoos for the polar bears and seals and stuff like that. A place to view them on the lower level of glass/acrylic and a place to interact with them in an open, you-friendly top level set up like a pond.

SA/CA would be better....African cichlids do what they do, but in a POND.....


.....show me a Psitt that has the kahunas to mess w/ a Dovii, Festae, Eye-spot, etc...

You should be more concerned about a pure, clean water source for your birds to drink from.

Here's my idea: lories, lovebirds, conures, bourke's parakeets, long tail finches, lady gouldian finches for birds,................... For other land animals a blue green iguana and maybe a couple fruit bats and tropical butterflies like morphos ..... For fish go with longfin bushy nose plecos, a Redfin pickerel and a pair of tilapia, for plants go money tree, maple, strangler fig and tropical habiscus
