Unique female convict cichlid

I showed these photos to a local knowledgeable friend and he feels this female may be more than just a case of unique coloration. Any thoughts?


Notice the difference in base color between the male and female. The male is more of a slate grey with black stripes, where the female is almost white with black stripes.

I don't think its a convict its a Honduran Red point.

Is the visual gender difference between male and female the same with honduran red points as with convicts? (Orange on belly of female/lacking on males)

Breeding convicts are so pretty. They look like convicts to me. I doubt you just stumbled across some hrp.

My lfs sells red points as convicts. lol I say they look like HRP because of their blue color

Looks like a normal convict in breeding dress to me. Good looking pair!

Lfs convicts could be hrp, siquia, nigrofasciatus and mixes of all....

Looks like a couple of happy convicts to me. My locally bred f1s have very similar coloration ranging in size from 1-3"

They could be. They can vary in color.
