most aggressive smaller cichlid

I have 2 Convicts (male & female), 3 Neetropolis Nemotopus, 2 Red Jewels, (males), and 1 Salvini (female) in a 360 tank. The Red Jewel is most stands out just a little, they all go after each other nobody completely dominates. However, my vote would be a 5 Spot Jewel, I have had a 5 Spot Jewel (the General). In fact, I won't add one because he would dominate have of the tank and all other cichlids would be on the opposite side of the tank.

I had a 5 Spot Jewel in the same 360 gallon tank with a Grammodes and other cichlids and the 5 Spot took over half the tank. Grammodes would swim with caution, lol...
I believe it was because the tank was so large that the Grammodes could not attack the 5 spot like he want to. The 5 Spot has some awesome fighting skills, I never seen nothing like it, although to see the skills you must have a large tank.

H. Deppi is pretty nasty. I couldn't even keep larger cichlids like a syn male that was double the deppi's size. They also will kill and eat larger dithers. Forget any livebarers. Mine would bite swordtails and mollies in half. Very unpredictable fish. They aim to take out tank mates and always just go for the underbelly. No jaw locking or shredded fins.
Males get 8" and females 6".

Lol, I keep seeing Salvini on the list. I had one in my old community tank and it was super mellow.I even called him Mella Yella, BUT!! it would do flare at my Jewel cichlid from the opposite side of the tank, I thought that was funny.

Come on this thread is over 8 years old

what about true green terrors, they make gold saums seen tame
they are smaller than gold saums and since only a few gold saums pass 10" and true green terrors are smaller than gold saums, then true green terrors will qualify

salvini
convict
are total jokes I have had to save both many times from being bullied or killed by smaler fish

MBUNAS and lake tanganyika cichlids always will be the most aggressive out of small cichlids

put a dhonti in with a convict or sal the same size watch what happens actually don't because its animal cruelty

I think its animal cruelty to mix mbunas same size with new world cichlids I just took out my devil from my 120 who had five stars, an aratus, princess of bundi, yellow leupi, and northern blue, the devil was getting way too torn up so i put him in a peaceful 150 for now till he gets big.

Sorry for spelling errors but saying a sal or convict being the smallest most aggressive cichlid might as well say angelfish are as well they are just as bad when protecting fry lol I have bred both species and kept 100s of them. Sure they are tougher than a firemouth OR and oscar but thats about it. I WILL hand it devils some of them even at small sizes can put up one hell of a fight compared to sals or convicts they are tougher and more aggressive as fry than an adult sal or convict which would have been killed in my tank in a few days.

The true green terror can easily beat a larger gold saum or jack Dempsey too, I think it is the most aggressive small cichlid
