Diamondback terrapin or Belize slider?

LOL wow....I'm not about to get into a back and forth essay contest over the finer points of keeping the turtles in brackish water. Those who have bred generations of them seem to be onto something.

Lol

Looks like I'll likely be keeping DBTP then. If I go with a l shaped tank, I'll probably do 5 feet long on the water section and 3 feet wide (maybe 2 feet instead) and probably about 3 feet of water plus another 2 feet of air space. Probably 3 feet long on the land section. I need to measure the spot where the tank's going, that'll probably play a part in the size of it ;)

my LFS had a pair of them in a 360g they initially had for over-sized fish that people brought in, and it also had a few very big catfish - a RTC, a TSN and a Pangasius, and one day I came in and they weren't in there anymore and one of them had a smaller tank to itself and I asked "What happened to the DBTs? " They said "one got attacked by the RTC and it grabbed him by the leg and twisted it off a few days ago, so they moved them while it was recovering", so I said "but there's only one in the tank and it has all 4 legs, do you think the other may have died from injury?" and the other lady walked up saying he died overnight. No one thought the fish would bother a turtle and if it did, what could a fish do to it. The unexpected always happens.

Well with a RTC, I might expect it to attach a turtle. Especially a smaller species like the DBT. If I did keep any fish in there, it would likely be a small breeding population of african cichlids or something like that - cheap and easy. Although I'm not sure about the water parameters of them - they would likely be conflicting.
