I've never heard of those shops.I was thinking Big Al's when I read the title,are they still open?

Yeah big als is still going. These shops are all over, big als are only ontario and out west really.

The eastern provinces only have pets unlimited / Pet Culture and petsmart for chains. This will be good news for independent stores at least.

Oh okay.There used to be a Big Als here but the owners separated from the company and dropped the name.
