Water level in sump

The weirs are limiting as is the overflow box as a whole. You don't want to exceed either. The amount of extra height it takes to flow your next setting on your pump will be reached and then the level in the tank and the sump will stop changing.

In my case my Laguna 2400 @ 5' is about 1600 gph but my overflow by marineland only max handles 1400gph.. my water in show reaches the tank braces..when pump shuts off I have a lot of water flows back into sump n NOT flood my sump..

All points above true; Jaws not sure if you recall a recent post from me about how I drilled additional holes across my overflow wall? This was the reason . Also to add, if the overflow is able to take on more volume the other bottleneck is the primary drain. Once I did this I had to open up the primary drain via gatevalve to make sure it could keep up with the increase.
