I was toying with the idea of just a smaller tank with just a female and maybe a few smaller catfish as cleaners. Keep it stress free and simple

if you have the space you should get a pair if possible, there a great little cichlid to breed with bags of personality especially when breeding, there great parents and very easy to breed, just add water and that's it lol

Yeah I may just have to get another small tank for a little breeding pair

I've been toying with the notion of adding several pairs to a larger-ish tank and seeing how many will keep to their own space for rearing the fry. Wonder how many would work and of what species.

Cons are great fish, they get along with most cichlids, aren't too aggressive but can hold their own. If there is a pair of them, they can hold their own even better. Very hardy and yes, they are prolific breeders.

They can really hold their own no problem. My pair, which are maybe 4 and 2.5 inches try to take on my 8 inch hybrid... That is like a human facing off with an elephant.

And sometimes they win against him as well lol.

I meant several pairs of smaller cichlids of different species, not all pairs of Cons

Yea, usually pairings in community cichlid tanks cause some havoc....but they can also be perfect for making overly-aggressive cichlids respect other fish's space. Having any pair in a community always changes the hierarchy in at least some way.

You don't even need a heater technically if it's indoors and the temps are human-tolerable 24/7

i think it's kinda lame how the odds are in the human's favor 1,000,000; 1 since we have guns. Imagine if elephants evolved opposable thumbs and learned to use guns and teamed -up with Apes that learned martial arts and used Stingrays for surfboards into battle and kicked field goals with us lol

lololol Cheers, Peoples You all have my permission to drink ;)

Hybridization is a risk for me as well. If I get a female it could breed with a couple of my guys. I'd prefer a male but don't want to have too many territorial males

Well i meant it as a naked human against a naked elephant..

But if your elephant-monkey-stingray combo has a chance of coming into existence im on board lol.
