I am going to pick my rays up at the airport.. I have never done this before as all my other fish have been shipped to my house... can anyone explain what I need to do? Where I need to go? I will be paying for the shipping when I get there.

Thanks
Paul

Just recently went to pick up fish from the airport the first time myself. Almost all airports have a separate air cargo facility where all the big air shipping companies are located. So you will be going to a different part of the airport than usual. Just look up the company that is shipping and then the airport to find out where the cargo facility is located. You just need to go there with 2 forms of ID and pick up your package. The fish will usually be ready for pickup after about 30 minuets after the plane lands. Hope this helped!

You go the shipping pickup office of the airline that is carrying your fish, calling that office first might help.
In my case it is almost always Southwest, and they have an office for pickup, that is not attached to the main terminal, but a few miles away near where Fed Ex, and other shippers are.
Hope this helps, without knowing your airport, or its size, its very hard to know.
If you are in Albany NY it would be dramatically different than if you were at Ohare in Chicago.

thanks for the info,,, i will def. call them once i get the airfreight info and find out were i have to go... my first thought was that it wont be part of the actual airport.. btw im in Va,, picking up at NN airport either delta or southwest

In Milwaukee the Southwest office is very familiar with fish shipping, the manager told me he sees fish packages regularly. There I am able to drive up to within a few feet of the door.

Yep,that's pretty much how it is.The place I go to pick up my cargo is well away from the airport and kind of remote so parking was a breeze.I darn near parked at the front door.
The only hiccup for me is that the airport location is at the other end of the city and at least a forty minute drive depending on traffic conditions.

I always use SWA. I regularly see stores picking up fish. They do a great job here in KC of putting fish in the office. Heck, I don't even shoe ID anymore and they always ask to see my fish before I leave. I always try to ship via airport. It's usually cheaper than FedEx

what other id would i need besides my license?
