Mealworms??

Anyone feed there flowerhorns meal worms?? I've been feeding them a lot and noticed a huge growth in my bonsai

Interesting,I have heard that mealworms are not very nutritious for fish.
 
meal worms ok for treats, best to gut load them first, I use to keep super meal worms with sweet potato in an oatmeal media.

other wise besides the protein not allot to them. And should never be a staple diet.

Years ago when I bought my first leopard ctenopma I fed it mealworms as that it was all that would eat.It seemed to never grow the whole time I had it....smaller fish that I bought afterward would outgrow it lol.

i got my bonsai at the size of a quarter and he took to meal worms right away and I've been doin them blood worms and pellets and he's about 3.5 inches right now with great color

Nice and it sounds like your bonsai is doing well with that combination of foods.
 
They are high in fat and fiber. Good source of energy and fatty acids but not the best source of protein (amino acids) which are required for growth.
