If it was a female at that size (6") it would be displaying a lot more yellow colouring as it would be fully sexually mature by 6", also I've know female Dovii to take way over a year to reach that size, they grow way slower then males

I'm saying male too. Had a female Costa Rican and it never had that many markings in the face and body. It was much more yellow.
Hi frank were have you see a 28" Dovii dude, I've never seen one bigger then 20" in captivity, that would be a beast lol
I never thought of that lol but dovii are pretty dimorphic from a smaller size relative to what you're saying.
Here's a couple of pics of my big guy, with my hand for perspective his tail is almost bigger then my hand now lol, but if you look at mine and yours you can clearly see the similarity, sorry for bad pics he dosent like staying still
I forget where, but somebody on youtube has a Dovii that is between 26 and 28 inches long... It is the bulkiest fish ive ever seen. Looks to be at least a solid foot and some tall and half of that wide, if not more... Absoluelty massive. I forgot what channel it was though but i will try to find it.

yep, mel has some sweet dovii. that specific one has since passed sadly. but he has one of his sons growing out, he is about half the size of his pop atm maybe bigger than half. Gonna b fun to see how far the apple falls from the tree there!!!
