Striped Raphael Catfish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i always liked those and the spotted. I believe those guys are just slow growers in general. and most of the time they hide so much but then whenever they do show up they look bigger than the last time you saw them.

I've seen a few posts inquiring about bulling up your fish. Serious over feeding can be harmful to the lifespan of many fish. Go for quality over quantity. Currently i have an Arowana, motoro stingray, ornate bichir, flowerhorn, and a pair of wolf fish.

I feed earthworms, crickets, superworms, bloodworms(when smaller), pellet, and krill. I also do feeder fish that I gut load with high end pellets, and gut load the superworms with carrots to help with color. Some species just have a slower growth rate, a higher quality diet might assist.

I have 4. 2 stripe and 2 spotted. They are slow growers no matter how much food you give them. You'll just end up fouling the water with too much food. I've had mine for 2 yrs and the stripes went from 3" to 5" and spotted ones from 2" to 3" so don't expect fast growth.

I've had one in various tanks of mine for at least ten years it was tiny when I got it its around 6-7" now. They are extremely slow growers and hide a lot if given the chance with lots of hides you may never see them lol ;)
Pellet , muscles , prawns etc are fine mine is usually cleaning up scraps in my grow out tank

Imo the spotted ones are more secluded and you'll never see them. My stripe ones come out to feed once lights go out.
