Bark can rot in the tank as well much more easily then the hardwood in the middle.

I know bleach is chlorine based and that it gases out over time. But having been burned by it myself as a human I just cant help that having it around my tanks or decor makes me ancy.
Some peoples' skin is very sensitive to it....my skin is fairly sensitive to some chemicals, but fortunately bleach is not really one of them. The only real drawback I hate about using it is breathing in the fumes and getting the smell of it off my hands afterwards.

Also, very important - NEVER USE BLEACH WITHOUT GOOD VENTILATION. I did it once when I was gutting my Anacondas cage a few years back and I almost passed out cuz I forgot how long I was bent over the side of the tank trapped in there scrubbing the inside of the tank and all of a sudden it just hit me and I was like "Holy **** I need to go outside"

When I got burned it was an over concentration ate all the hair off my knuckles and all of my pores kind of exploded.

As for fumes I agree also very dangerous ( it is the basis for mustard gas after all) learned that the hard way taking care of mold in a basement ( had a mask for mold particles ect not a ventilator)and not keeping track of time breathed like crap for a week.

yea man, bleach is one of those "extremely useful-but extremely dangerous if used incorrectly". You gotta always use your brain when it comes to chemicals.

I do know him, but I only talk to him occasionally if I see him at an Expo. He is probably friends with Rick Krumrine or Ted Thompson if he asking for advice from Pros in PA....they are the most well-known. Tom Agosta is in NJ and he's also incredibly well-versed as well.

I work with rob at his day job. I just figured I would ask since the reptile community seems very well networked
