I have a nice breeding pair of black ghost knifes alone in a 240 14"...

Can I add a 18" Clown Knife to the tank or would they just fight because they are knifes?
My Armatus seems agitated with the knife already and don't want the knife hurt...

Well it'd been a week. And after 3 years of my Payara looking like he did not tolerate other fish, he seems to so far almost take a liking to his new tankmate. He even ate a krill floating on top of the tank because he saw the knife eat one!

I bought a 12" bgk and 16-18" clown knife and quarantined them in a 240g tank. It didn't go well. The clown knife beat up the bgk pretty bad. The bgk healed up and I still have him...about 14-15" now. I don't think it's worth it for you to add a clown knife.

As an aside, has the breeding pair ever had babies?

Thanks for the information bro! So far I have had the Clown Knife with my Payara and they seem to be getting along well.

The knifes have not laid eggs yet. They are large male and female bgk's that lie together and follow each other around, i got them from a mfk legend as a breeding pair. I feel confident they will lay eggs in the 240 I have them in now. When I went to transfer them to there bigger tank i had the male in the net and the female jumped in also, so I took that as a sign of good fortune!

That is awesome! I had a large pair (never bred) in a 175g community tank years ago. This was when blue led moonlights just came out. I could watch them "dance" togethor for under the moonlights...so graceful and relaxing. Best of luck with the breeding project, I hope they pull it off!

Thank you so much that's exactly what i do. So you had a male and female and they never breed for you? I was under the impression that if they don't kill each other they would have to breed eventually. Thanks for that information. I might not get my hopes up as much!
btw sent a message to another connection on your gold line knife so keep your fingers crossed! I been looking for a few rare fishes myself and added your knife to my list. I been looking for a pair of dragon knifes jumbo size myself for a long time now and hope one day to get them.
