Why breeders are hesitant on breeding their masterpieces

Thanks for all the replies! Yes, it's definitely easier to breed with a larger male and smaller female but it is advantageous to use a younger male if you are trying to set the traits of the original male breeder. This is because you can breed the best F1 female offspring back to the father if he is young enough.

The injured male is actually doing really well and is still behaving and eating normally. I will breed him back with this same female but I'm going to pump him up first. At his current stage of growth, putting on size will occur very rapidly.

Mine wouldn't heal for 8 months properly and then she beat him up again and she took out a chunk out of his kok she ate his kok lol he then died two days later.

Well I hope he's off to a good start already. Simon let's see all your flowerhorns lol

That's all I've got so far. Two males and this one female. I have lots of pictures of my previous breedings on FlowerhornRUS and FlowerhornUSA but I think the FlowerhornUSA site is down now. I've bred Fortunefish from Rarefish, GoldenMonkey from Sonny and my own Shinto Dragon line. I believe pics of my champion Fortunefish and my masterpiece female Shinto Dragon are still posted in the masterpiece gallery at FlowerhornRUS site.

I'm going to keep it small and simple this time around. Two fish will become thousands in no time. I will be culling heavily because these fish will be for my living art and pet collection. I dont plan on selling any fish unless people really want them.

Don't cull them send them to me unless they look like blood parrots lol

Thanks,

I find that fish around this size can heal very fast when given lots of oxygen, clean water and good food. He's really wanting to breed with the same female but I'm going to let him get a bit larger first.

Wow i haven't put my pair together yet but i feel miserable already
Your fish is so nice Simon
