Why not happy with water change?
What do you do on a water change? Rays normally love fresh 'treated' water.
Are you dosing enough for chlorine etc? Is the temp roughly the same?
As said before, cut the food into smaller pieces. Rays will eat more when their food is cut into bite size chunks.

I normally stir up the sand in the tank when i do water changes. cause there are alot of particles. i do cut them into small pieces lol. and do treat for chlorine.plus, having my arowana flip out in the tank whenever i do water changes isnt exactly gonna keep my rays calm.

I wouldn't stir the sand up during a wc. You are stressing the fish out more than anything. They rays are already turning the sand over for you. If there is particulate matter on top of the sand siphon it off.
As far as NLS pellets, yes they are harder than massivore. However it is a high quality food, and it is much cheaper than massivore when you find a good deal. You can find the big bucket of pellets for around $40. I have been feeding my rays and fish a mix of both those pellets for the last 3 years.

Totally agree with shark13, no need at all for you to stir the sand up, large rays like yours will have no trouble turning the sand over and also as suggested, just siphon off the crap. Stirring it up will just breakdown the solids into smaller particles, making those smaller particles harder to physically remove during a WC, ultimately the particles will clog your media quicker and in part just settle back down on top of the substrate when they fall backdown through the water column.

I have run my ray tank for 4 years and not done one manual water change or touched the sand since starting it up. I have an auto water changer but even if I didn't I would not stir the sand up, as said already, rays do this for you. No one should be 'flipping out' as you put it, when changing water, they should be enjoying it. Leave the sand be next time and see how it goes.
