Hey guys,

Do you guys feed raw fish meat to your fish? But what about parasites though? Should I be concerned? Is it generally a better idea to cook fish meat first before feeding? Or it's really unnecessary. I've already fed raw a bunch of times with no signs of fish getting ill nor sick but just curious what you guys think.

Thanks!

I'm sure this has been asked before but is there a safe frozen time frame for feeding wild fish fillets as opposed to say farmed tilapia

Once you cook fish becomes less nutritional best to feed raw

Freezer durations are at 0F.

Lean fish - 6 months
Fatty fish - 2 to 3 months
Cooked fish - 4 to 6 months
Fresh shrimp, scallops, crawfish, squid - 3 to 6 months

If parasites are a concern, freeze the fish to kill any hitch-hikers. Then, thaw out what you wish to provide at each feeding.
Oh wow, yeah! That's right, you can just freeze them out. Great idea. Thanks!

Yep, I definitely understand that. I'm just really concerned about parasites haha but thank you, I appreciate your input.

Keep in mind, home freezers generally cant achieve temperatures cold enough to kill parasites

You can buy the frozen fish in your local super market. I feed polys frozen tilapia/flounder/shrimp. Just cut and thaw.

Hmmmm............ I wonder if my fish ate frozen fish when they were still wild?
It's of little concern.
