3rd picture is the sumpIs that the sump in the third picture, or is that just the tank in its current condition?
If the tank in the first two pictures is how it sits currently, then I think it looks pretty good and should clean up pretty easily.
Whatever tank is in the third picture doesn't look like it's worth saving.
Awesome!! Thanks for the inputnot hard to clean at all,
3rd pic sump would take a little cleaning but not hard to get and just because it is dirty and on its side doesn't mean its not worth saving, as long as its not cracked its good.
Regardless, for the price you cant match that deal as long as the main tank holds water and the stand is stable.
Thanks!! I would rather just get a new sump, but since it just comes with the tank I might give it a shot at cleaning it upyes, vinegar is what I've heard. Some kinda light acidic solution. If it's glass, get a scraper and scrape it. Or a combination of the two methods. Since it's saltwater, call around some LFS until you get somebody smart on the phone and they might have some good advice too.
LFS these days sometimes know something about marine tanks.
Thanks for the info! He just went on a business trip so I will check it out in 2 weeksI just refurbished a previous salt water tank from Craigslist. Vinegar works perfectly. I put it in a spray bottle and soaked it for a few minutes. I used a razor blade on the glass and on an magic eraser on the acrylic. Warm water to rinse off. Did this 3 times and the tank looked brand new.
FYI, the main concern buying a refurbished tank is how good are the seals and you prolly won't see it with all the grime on the glass but saltwater glass tanks are notorious for scratches in the inside due to live rock.
At $299... That's a steal.
