I use a spider catcher to feed my bullrout now, I used to handfeed him (only way he could get food as my Mangrove Jack is so quick), but my missus kept getting worried because he would actually kiss my hand when snatching the feeders. I dont think he could sting me that way, only if he flicks his side into me, or treading on him. (I dont jump in my tank either, just stating how one could get stung)

Wait up.... before you go to the LFS or bigalsonline.com to buy fish tongs, check out the 99 Cent Store. I bought tongs just like in the picture above. I don't know if every 99 cent store has them, but the one in Norwalk CA on Firestone Ave. has them.
Thanks! ill check my local 99 cent store what aisle are they in?

Should be in the pets section right next to the dog/cat/bird toys. At my 99 cent store, it was in the corner of the store close to the wall of kitchen stuff. If they don't have tongs, you can use a turkey baster to shoot food down to your bichirs. It works almost as well as tongs.

Do feed them for like 3-5 days, and what kind of pellets your using, for bottom dwellers you need to use sinking carnivore pellets, wc species can be more difficult to feed pellets, but dont lose patients they can be train, dont let them train you.

I feed him hikari dinking pellets he doesn't see it tho the pellets are the same color as the substrate

Polys dont use their sight on locating food, they use their nose to locate a food, try feeding it at night after the light are off, And what kind of species you have?

How can i tong feed my bichir pellets?
he is scared of it, will he get use to it eventually if i keep on doing it?

Ive used tongs in the past. You could try omega one shrimp pellets and gently hold the tip of the pellet with the tong. You could also do the same with a small peice of tilapia.

Another option would be to use a pvc pipe to drop the pellets right on the polys head.

Ornate bichir so when I drop the sinking pellets on the ground it should be easily found by the bichir even if it is the same color as the substrate?
