New Tank with New Fishes

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hmm.
You do make a valid point abt the gold wolf.
Maybe a mala or curu or even a aimara wld be better?

Mala or curu. Curu by itself. Curus don't seem to mix well with its kin. Aimara is a good choice but tank size becomes an issue.

A single curupira with other fish. Multiple curus seem lead to injury and death. Curus and other wolves lead to injury and death.

But you can keep a few Malas together with less problems with other fish as well. If you got the space.

looks like I will have to rethink the comm tank and its occupants..

only confirm thing thus far is the Asian Arowana.

Everything else is up in the air at this point.

Thanks kno4te for the tips/comments..

Anyone else have any suggestions / comments feel free to do so..

:)

Keep the Asian aro....add a curu, v-atf and some lower jaw Polypterus. Maybe a stingray. Depends on tank size. Keep the SD as dithers. That's what i would do if u had access to the fish your able to get.

Good luck fazl1 fazl1 . Keep the forum posted on what you get.

well I've been researching and reading up on the different species and what "myths" & "legends" about setting up a community tank of predator fishes.

Wanna run thru the following with the MFK community here on what I've think is the most suitable and see if anyone has any warnings/advise on it.

Top Swimmer: BBXB Asian Arowana
Middle: VATF, SDs
Bottom: Hoplias Malabaricus or Curupira , Polypterus Delhezi or Short Body Polypterus Endlicheri

Comments / Advise welcome..

Thoae are some good choices. I would suggest lower jaws for the Polypterus. Something a little bigger as a wolf may eat it like spaghetti. If the fish are small and raised together then it should be fine.

Maybe regular endli,lap, congicus etc.

Other than that it sounds like a nice aggressive tank.

Has anyone kept a wolf fish with stingrays?
maybe a reticulated "teacup" stingray or something along those lines?
Possible to comm together?

Can be done. Has been done by other memebers. DB junkie had such a group. There has been some disarray in his tank of recent but not b/w the wolves and rays. Or atleast not yet proven.
