yeah I went to my lfs and they sold me frozen silversides I tried to wave it in front of his face but he didn't want it
you were supposed to starve him for a few days, remember?yeah I went to my lfs and they sold me frozen silversides I tried to wave it in front of his face but he didn't want it
oh, I didn't know....only times I ever caught Gar were on live Shiners so I figured imitating a live prey item was the best ideaFor as long as it takes which won't be long. Usually less than 1 week. Sometimes between 1 and 2 weeks.
You'd not need to wave it with a gar. Just drop it in. If it doesn't take it, take it out. Try again in a few days.
I thought there was no reason to add tankmates this early to an already stressed fish, plus he still hasn't done the ''starving period" and wants to attempt feeding again so soon. Frequent feeding attempts for a fish that won't eat is likely to make it LONGER before it finally does eat than itt normally would if he stopped offering food for say, a week. OP isn't listening to anything we say, one last chance and i'm done with this threadIdeally, it'd be best to train the gar alone but it is doable with tankmates too. It will learn. As long as it does not get too hungry and does not start snapping at his tankmates.
What's the reason for sort of a panic, Eric?
