Ye think a few are mine are just hitting the 2" Mark now so should be able to tell soon. Have you had any fry off them been as they spawningI didn't notice it until they were about 4 inches, but I was very new to the hobby at that time. Since gaining the knowledge I have now, I am able to tell from about 2 inches upwards - if the lobe has taken shape. All the juveniles I see in the LFS all have straight anal fins when under 2 inches, and the "lobe" shows up as they grow. Hope this helps.
None of the eggs have ever made it to "fry hood", I let the other fish eat them before they hatch as I have nowhere to raise 250 SD fry atm
I'm hoping to get a 200+ltr to breed them in soon as a guy at the LFS offered me some little USD catfish (retail between $25 and $30 for a 1 incher here) for some SD fry if I brought him in some, so I'm hoping to do that at some point. But as of yet I've never raised the eggs to fry and so on.

Of course its a good deal! I get an experience breeding fish ive never actually bred and raised plus some expensive friends for Felix for free.sounds like a good deal

I've only ever bred/raised guppys, convict cichlids and goldfish... None of which were intentional, they just sort of... happened.
I'm no expert by any definition.
