Angelfish Killer?

It's too bad because I like both the Acaras and the Angels.

I'm going to give it one more try in the near future. This time, I'm going to take the 4 EBA's out while I introduce the Angelfish to the tank. I'll also rearrange the tank. After a few days, I'll add the Acaras back in and see what happens. If the results are similar, I'll have to make a decision on who to get rid of.

The angels and the acaras were the only two species in the tank. Fish will act differently when you're in the room versus when you're away. Most of mine come out and beg for food when I'm around. It's when you walk away that they go back to being terrors.

I wouldn't bother trying again with the same acaras. If they've done it once, they'll do it again. You'll just end up with more dead/maimed angels.

Everyone that responded - Thanks for your help!

Ryansmith83 - Do you think that a different group of acaras might reacted differently to angels? Maybe this current group just has the Angelfish-hate trait? ;)

If I ever try acaras again, maybe I'll just buy them at 1/2" so they'll grow with the angelfish already there.
 
Blue acaras might be considered mild cichlids, but only when comparing to the much more territorial central americans. After keeping and breeding blue acaras a few times, I wouldn't even keep them with the Geos let alone with Angels. Their territorial levels are far above both groups.

I had an EBA kill an Oscar and a Salvini.


How crazy is that?
 
People forget the closest relatives to the blue acara group are the Green Terrors.

Wow! See, I think this is the stuff people need to see. I'm telling you . . . most of the the stuff I've read is that EBAs are peaceful. This thread will warn others so that they don't go through what I did.
