Yes, still use Prime if you have municipal water or any water that is getting treated with chlorine, chloramine, etc.Oh good!I've worried for nothing. I'd still use the prime during a water change right?

Yes I do have some ammonia. My brother has a Jardini, they are sensitive to water conditions so I feel for you. He actually bought an RO filter which didn't help his ph. Apparently there are two different kinds out there. But some say they can adapt, but prefer the softer ph. Anyways yes I do. Lol.
If you are seeing ammonia as well, that typically means your bio in your filters isn't able to keep up with the bio load placed on the system.
we in the same boat!! I have some ammonia like .25 ppm and my nitrite is 0 but my nitrate is like 10-20ppm!! im trying to find solution how I can lower my nitrate. I tried reactor with de nitrate still no changes. Let me know if u know any ways to lower it.
Things that can help, lava rock is suppose to reduce nitrates, water changes, there are other different media's like matrix. There's new ones out there too like biohome. But I've been doing water changes 2-3x a week, sometimes more. Jardini are messy fish so scoop out any uneaten food if possible, that will help some. If it gets too bad, prime helps make ammonia, nitrite and nitrate nontoxic for a day. But I just learned it will affect test results, Iknew itSeachem makes an ammonia test that will tell you how much TOXIC ammonia you have in your tank. I'm not sure if they make those for nitrate or not.
u can put lava rock in reactor right? I have matrix in my canister doesn't seem to work like the de nitrate. Might give lava rock a try.
