My eel showed up with an odd spot near his gill the other day, almost looks like a hole. Energy is good, still eats like a pig, anything to be concerned about?

Yes it is something you want to heal . Is anything in your aquarium pointed like driftwood.

Has had it 4-5 days, hasn't seemed to get any better or worse, behavior hasn't changed at all

Keep up with wc's, and that's great the eel is still eating.
