Monster fish keepers

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Monster fish keeping to me does not only mean keeping large tanks and keeping large fish....To me it also means your attitude towards the hobby. Monster fish keepers like fish with attitude. Fish that greet you at the glass and glassbang. Fish nobody else would keep because they got too mean or too big....or ate too much food. We are unique...we enjoy different types of fish. We are the type to choose a 8 foot tank over a nice dresser . We are the people who would cut our budgets on other things to pay for some fish. We are the people who would drive hours to meet a group of people or pick up on a killer deal. We are the people who jam 240 gallons in the back of an SUV and call it good. We have a different personality we are unique and we all enjoy separate aspects. Point is monster can be defined as many things. No matter which way it's defined its correct.

I think this dude hit the nail on the head!!

Its also the dedication. I have a fish that gets most of the food? Solution wave a block of bloodworm infront of mt knives so they can get some :) i am sure there is more dedication than that

My take is that it's just a name. Post about whatever fish tanks you have from nano and up.

I post here because it's the most active freshwater aquarium community that I have found. Nothing worst than a forum where no one reads it or posts.

I just posted about my Betta (I have larger, don't worry) and a few people responded. I'm assuming that means I'm not the only one who likes fish of all sizes, not just monster sized.

MFK's welcome page states:
We are a unique community of Fish Keepers who seriously take our hobby to extremes and the NEXT level. The majority of our fish collections include RARE & EXOTIC Species of all sizes, BIG FISH with BIG APPETITES and BIG TANKS. It's not easy for most people or other "regular" fish keepers to understand why we maintain this type of collection and spare no expense on this fascinating hobby.

It is very simple. There are two groups. You either fit in the above cagtegory, or if you don't, then you define "monster" as being about passion. There is room on MFK for both groups. The initial group has indeed become a minority on MFK. The only thing about "passion" that I have a problem with, is that it seems a bit arrogant....I am on MFK because I have more passion than the fish keepers on AC.....

You've got a small Pantodon butterfly fish and need info, chances are, you can read up on general care in aquarium books. You come here, and you get first hand breeding info G guppy . We're The Next Level.

You have a dat, or a rhom, or pbass, anything that doesn't fit into a "complete setup" package at PetCo, and the place you can really find help in setting up your custom system is MFK. We're the only site you'll ever need.

Sry for the mini hijack, but what is that yellow and black fish in the middle of the MFK promotional image posted above?

Only forum I know that has discussions about Ultima II filters :) and threads on the best places for custom built tanks.

I had the same question when I first saw that picture. It's a bumblebee grouper.
