antique 185 tank refurb HELP!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
lots of you tube out there on it.

Yes you will have to take the tank apart since the silicone in between the glass has became detached. Don't pond armor the bottom. Since it is a large tank, you should probably use adhesive silicone. Make sure it is 100 percent adhesive silicone and it does not have any fungicides

Here are more pics of the realy bad corner.

Sorry to say but your gonna separate the panes and start fresh. If I remember right those tanks are made by D.A.S Dutch aquarium systems
Oh! You know this tank? Ive been searching all over for the manufacturer. I was told these were display tanks at Petco in the 80's

Also, there is a section thats got dry rot. Im not sure how bad.
The stand it has is flat on top and completely supports the bottom of the tank. I thought i could get away with sealing the bottom.
Please dont tell me i have to replace the entire bottom.
I'm running out of my Fish Allowance. :(

Thanks you guys! I so appreciate your advice!

A good friend of mine bought a display tank that was similar to that but it was 700g This is the tank. This pic is old maybe 08 the tank was a 3 part tank there was a tank that mirrored this one then there was a tank in the middle. I went to that shop when I was younger the whole set up is massive.

That things beautiful!

This one will be too. I just fell in love with it. Fixing it up would put me on the map with the fish groups who gave me such a hard time when i first started.
I'll be Queen of the fish people!
hahahaha!!

if the joints them selves have separated will need a rebuild, panes removed, all old silicone removed, panes resealed/glued back together, then the inside resealed. unless you are very very good DIY a job best left to a professional.

Im ready to take it on. I have to at least try. This tanks been passed around and nobody has time for it. I have time, but i'm not sure where to begin, I was refereed to MONSTER FISH KEEPERS because you guys are known to be the experts in extreme tanks and fish. So far I haven't been disappointed.
I want to be a MONSTER FISH KEEPER too! Can you suggest some tutorials to help me get started? How to dismantle it? Pleeaase Sir!
