There are 6 totes filled 70%-ish total... 1200 gallons should be enough to filter 7000 gallons.

But as I understood it, only 4 totes will contain media. And the media in the first two totes - the mechanical filtration - may need to be taken out and washed periodically, which in the worst case scenario will leave you running on only two totes or 400 gal of filtration for some time, granted K1 media is pretty good at it.
Hence, my original question.
I assume you are thinking the two K1 totes are sufficient by themselves and all the rest is just additional filtration and the safety margin.

Yes... I believe the two totes of moving media is sufficient to run this system for a short period of time. I ran 2x 1250 stocked tubs plus a 2000 gallon fully stocked tub on about 240 gallons of K3 and it held up for over a year. This is the reason I think the 2 totes would be sufficient. The two Ultimas are the 2nd line of defense in case something goes wrong. Do you feel this is not enough since you have HUGE systems. This is my first big filtration project and I would love to hear from someone who has actual experience in this. Viktor, you are one of the few who has hands on experience with larger systems and I value your input.

Nah, Vince. I am here to learn from you. At best, with you. I am a redneck fish keeper, never had anything but sumps and stationary media and I am about to embark on my first wet-and-dry filter for a 20K tank.
I'm winging it on a shoestring and learning.
If you care about my inklings, (not knowing what Ultimas do and how really efficient are the K media) I think your filtration might be a bit thin, especially as you like HIGH stocking densities and will need to keep your predators well fed to nab in the bud any even feeble predation effort / thought.
Time will tell.. haha But I did have very heavy bio when I ran a smaller version of what I'm attempting now and it seemed to work out. 20k tank? Wow!! One of my mistakes was using bulkheads that didn't allow enough water to pass... had to add a few more bulkheads because the pump was pushing more water than the drain could handle.No I haven't but I appreciate your spotting me
