The double baffled like the one I have you mean? I plan to have Arowana, and Peacock Bass
Actually the 4 baffle, 3 compartment. Glass baffles are the best, and inexpensive.

Not a problem. No idea why it got drilled 9 times, the previous owner was using this 55 gallon sump, I believe he was using 4 of the holes not too sure on that though. Would you have any idea what would make someone drill 9 holes on the bottom of their tank? Beats me haha
This is a rough sketch, might give you an idea, the over flows, "Herbie, bean animal," Your choice. My tank is bottom drilled, with a 3/4" full sipon, and 1" emergency overflow, just two holes. With a wier corner overflow. It is a 75 g 4 footer. Flowing 500 gph.
It all depends on your budget, But Ideal you would use two corner over flows, or one in the center. With the bulk head fittings all grouped close together.
The reason for all the holes in the bottom is it was a reef tank with a closed loop system. Corals need constant flow, they also need a big, tall reef, to get some corals close to the lights on the top of the tank, and to grow other corals a little further away from the lights closer to the bottom--different light requirements.
Well, a big rock fixture in the tank like that causes big dead spots. But lots of types of coral need LOTS of water flowing by all the time. To put enough powerbeads in a tank to keep water flowing all over the reef, it would clutter the tank.
So, they drill the bottom, and put closed loop systems. Those holes are pump intakes/outputs. Put a nozzle on the end of the output, you can aim water coming out of the pump right at the reef, at different angles, create all kinds of turbulence.

Thanks for the lesson. Now it makes sense to why they drilled so many damn holes. Any way should I have to worry about leaks by plugging the extra holes? I think not but you never know.
