Yes it is a BP... I have one when I got mine he was red and the he turned 1/3 black. It's called black spot disease. When they are stressed the can return to black which is the beginning color. But after a 40% water change and temperature adjustment he returned the full red after a couple days. Here's a before and after.... these pics are a week apart

My red devil has scales of black, what is that from, i dont wnat that i want my devil to be just that bright red, feeding him krill and spectrum. Water changes twice a month of 20% and vac.

Here's a picture of my Red Devil I found your post because I'm also wondering why my red devil doesn't look like other young Red Devils. If it deserves look like this if anybody has any answers let us know

That would be incorrect - this is not black spot disease.
