100 precent natural charcoal.
Can get it at any local hardware store.
The only thing I can sugestions is to make a egg crate shelf for the bottom of the media chamber to allow more flow to all the media.
Good choice on changin the baffles to glass while you have the chance

You can find it on ebay, as a bonsai tree, substrate, it all comes from the big pumice mine in southern Oregon.
It's about $25.00 for 3.5 gallons on ebay. Delivered. I bought some a while back it is identical to sea Chem stuff.

I have 4 gallons of plastic bio balls, to 100 gallons. Then 2 cups of fine sand, in a fluidized, bio sand reactor on my 75 gallon. Little Less than the amount to cover the bottom of your tank, an inch but some where is a better answer.
Also filter socks can be fitted in many 300 microns, 100 microns type sizes. The smaller the number the faster it will plug. A 7" is way bigger than a 4". Bigger is better,
I have one sock, and a poly floss tray. Socks are nice, I like the nylon, mesh type.

I will search that generic version instead

Just use lava rock for your media. It's super cheap, like $10 for a 50lb bag. It is very porous and will make a great media for your sump.
