Looking to save money ?? I just don't understand

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I just saved money for a while and bought good quality equipment that will last me a long time.

Being someone who lives well below the pov line I can't afford to spend a lot on lights most of my stuff is garage sale stuff it might not always look pretty but I get it to light up just fine with a little work

I like good quality equipment but why would I wanna buy expensive light that able to grow coral when my setup is FOWLR? I just need cheap LED so the tank is not completely in darkness, it's all depend on the user needs. Also, brand name equipment doesn't meant it will last longer than cheap equipment.

I see where you are coming from, and in my case there are times i choose cheaper equipment and times when i choose better stuff...

I guess it comes down to how much disposable income i have at the time, and how important said tank is to me... Also, some items, like light unit housing doesnt need to be as professional as say the bulbs going into them...

This. Cash flow is important in my life, I wish I could spend top dollar on kessil lights, optiwhite aquariums, and systemised kits; but I can still achieve the same results, and not have to wait as long too.

I guess at the end of the day the ultimate consideration is if you are meeting the needs of the animal, then anything goes imo

I run beamswork leds only now after owning everything from maxspect razors to Flagship halide t5 combos running me over $1000. Why would I buy an ecotech radio for $500 when I can get a beamswork led for $50? On average they have lasted me around 4 years. So $50 over 4 years is pretty good.

Beams work leds are a treasure, really open doors for a lot of people limited by budget; myself included

My Finnexs I have to say are about a step up from those. They don't grow plants since my tank is 24" deep, but they're really bright and have a lot of features, which I love. I was thinking about upgrading to about 3-4 kessils for plants, but then I remembered that I had plants.

I forgot to mention that they don't rob you of everything in your wallet.

I use a 6' beamswork fixture, and it's working just fine for my planted tank. Beamswork is what you might consider "cheap" equipment, but it's doing well on my 125.

I read in past, Can I use Home Depot sand in my Aquarium ? I am reading this scratching my head. I did not know if I should laugh or cry. Just go to the beach. There is plenty of free sand their. Again, give me a break already. Golf Courses have the biggest ashtrays on them. Just use some of that. LOL The only other thing I can think of is-- move next to a lake that has fishes in it. Problem solved, No more expense on the aquarium. LOL
