No clue. Not sure of legality or anythingAre they cheap ?
I hope you don't mean sneakheads, cause that wouldn't workI would suggest that you choose 1 or a pair of your favorite species or setup a cheap, an easy community tank and take care them for at least few months.
The community, and taking "one or two". That never works. They fit all those points but community

ATF not expensive and not really cheap either, depend on size and species the price range from 60~150 bucks each. Also, your future 55 Gallons tank won't fit for any ATF species for long term, grow out tank for 2~3 inches baby is fine but soon they will out grow your tank. Are they cheap ?

I believe they are a colour variant. Also fairly fragile in health i believeAre electric blue Jack Dempseys any different than normal Jack Dempseys? My LFS keeps them, and they are absolutely stunning.
I also heard they were susceptible to bloat?I believe they are a colour variant. Also fairly fragile in health i believe
Any fish is. Just feed carefullyFairly

EBJD is a mutated collective breed from Blue gene JD so EBJD immune system a lot weaker than a normal JD, the growth rate is much slower compare to a normal JD too. In my experiences EBJD a lot skittish than normal JD and they will hide behind driftwood/rocks for months and only come out for food, they are easy breed but don't expect any fries from EBJD cause the fries too weak to survive due to their bad immune system. EBJD coloration is awesome if you commit to keep them in long term and they can drop dead for no reason all of sudden. Are electric blue Jack Dempseys any different than normal Jack Dempseys?
