I just added A hydor pump to my aquarium with sand is there anything I can do to keep sand from getting in it

A fine filter on the input or just make sure where water comes in is quite high in the tank. Is it a pump or a power head?

It is A circulation and wave pump
I have it at the very top of my aquarium but then so is the overflow box and it is getting sand in the sump

Pictures of your setup will definitely help.

The only way I can see that the circulation pump would get sand into your overflow is if the fish are stirring up the sand enough that it becomes suspended in the water column.

What type or brand of sand are you using?

+1. I have a 1500 gph Korallia about 6" from the bottom and another on the opposite side about 10" from the bottom without issue. Although I could of seen it being an issue before I switched to pool filter sand from play sand. Play sand would get everywhere.
