Does a black backround effect led lights in a planted tank and what are peoples favorite color for the backround in a planted tank

I have a black background and both plants and fish looked/looks outstanding!

As far as the lighting goes... Oh boy. I use a cheap color adjustable led strip. Certain fish will "pop" with certain lighting.

Whatever you go with be sure to place the light strip in the front of the tank to create even more "depth" :)

For planted tanks i've seen a few colors being used...

I've personally done black, white and 3D backgrounds on my planted tanks all with good results...

Then for the more adventurous ones out there, i've even seen people make a light box behind their tank, and add a blue light shining through it, which adds some serious depth when looking at the tank, while giving it a very natural sky looking effect...

There has also been one time i've seen it done with a more orange bulb, which gave the tank a slightly sunset look to it...

I've had the best luck with black exterior latex paint.

Holds up and is removable.

I personally hate the blue and whatnot backgrounds.
