I've read you don't need skimmers etc for nano saltwater aquariums, pretty much just strong flow (powerhead), heater; then live rock and sand, all else is controlled via water changes...
I saw one setup, a 15 litre nano salt with all the little bits and pieces, micro skimmer etc for 99 pounds

Dennerle do some pretty good 30 and 60 litre full nano set-ups, though these are mostly intended for corals and inverts; and at a push very small fish such as gobies

I love marine inverts! With the right stuff i could set my 20 litre up for marine i guess. Marine Inverts are easier to find than Freshwater shrimp, its ridiculous

quite a lot of shrimp where I am, that's a good thing for you though; you could import to where you are, breed them, and make a profit

Im a little young and lacking in capital to do that. Freshwater shrimp were illegal till fairly recently. I have only seen snacksize baby bumblebee shrimp in a LFS.

if you bought 10 shrimp, and bred them successfully; you'd have more than you knew what to do with. Doesn't have to be commercial selling, but among hobbyists you'd likely do well. If it's legal to do, you're safe, I don't imagine the capital would be extremely hindering with a bit of saving behind it, but you're the one to decide that.

Just a thought, it's what I'd do ;)

I'm only going to able to get one tank since someone was lucky enough to get the tank off of craigslist before I could...

Anyone have recommendations for driftwood? I was looking at spider wood, but I'm not sure if there are better looking varieties or if it's difficult to work with (long time soaking, lots of tannins, etc...).

Angelphish Angelphish go to a lake, stream, etc and find hard pieces of wood in the water, make sure it is worn of all bark,to treat it just leave it in a container for a day or two, boiling is usually unnecessary.

Wood from nature is usually best. I like Mopani wood a lot but it does leak tannins for a while
