Who do these eggs belong to?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
although in hindsight I can see no candidate that could be responsible for the oily, slimy coating besides the Gymnothorax polyuranadons. An Eel's slime coat is like no other

The thick slimy fleshy substance that accompanies the eggs looks like dead meaty flesh (without Casualties), worries me each time so I do a fish count. Looking more closely, I always see eggs.

if I were you I would do more research into mating/breeding habits of Morays, particularly, G. polyuranadon

Very little is written on these morays. I don't think its moray eggs. This has been happening for over 4 months now, hard to be sitting right there when the eggs are released as the overflow will suck it down in seconds. I purchased the mascara barbs at 1.5" only 7 months ago, have only to 3" now. Just don't think it's them. Oh well....

how about setting up a spy-cam to monitor them 24/7......you can purchase them at your local hunting stores - hunters use them to track game. Are you near a Cabela's or Bass pro Shops? Not sure if BPS has Hunting supplies, fish-cam....hunting-cam.....same thing, I think

Reactions: fishnatics
I am interested to see the outcome. Havn't clown loaches never spawned in tanks before? Or they have just never been successfully tank bred?

Well if it is either the loaches or eels it would be pretty cool to have them lay eggs!

That can restrict his flow and cause issues
That's right. I already have the intake capped with a build in DIY strainer to prevent the fishes, particularly the morays from getting sucked down. Reducing the intake to minimize even smaller particles from entering would have a profound impact of flow.

what if you cut the foot off a nylon stocking?
