So excited!! Got my first bunch of Shortnose Sturgeon (Acipenser brevirostrum) a few weeks ago and they are doing AWESOME!! They are 6" to 10" long eating like pigs and soooooooo amazing! I also got to Atlantic babies (Acipenser oxyrinchus oxyrinchus) , a lot smaller, 4", but just as gorgeous!

First 3 pcs are of the Shortnose and shows the colour variations between individuals. the last pic is of the 2 little Atlantics.

Many have gone on to their new homes but the Atlantics were a self indulgent acquisition, they are staying with me!!!! LOL

Still hoping to acquire a golden or albino Sterlet... one day!!!

How are all the other pet sturgeons doing out there?!!

Laura :D

Awesome! Where did you get them from?

Nice Laura. I'm a huge fan of sturgeon too and keep a few different types. They are my wet pets for sure. Have any bigger ones that you keep?

These r cool, even tho no one around here keeps sturgeon

LOVE these guys!! They are very "pretty" with well defined prominent scutes and variations in colour! They are not commonly kept but I have been able to negotiate the right to use them as an ornamental. It has taken close to 20 years to get that done!

I have 4 different Sturgeon. My largest is what we believe to be a Siberia, we call Goliath, who is 4 years old and 3 feet long. Then there is Arthur who may be a Siberian/Sterlet cross who is 3 years old and a little over 2 feet long. Then the Shortnose and the Atlantics.

Goliath and Arthur share a 1400 gallon tank in my garage/fish room. The Shortnose left over from this season will go in with my big 2 and the tiny Atlantics will live in the house in a 200 gallon tank and hopefully have enough size to go out with Goliath and the gang by spring.

The first pic is Goliath, second is kind of grainy but the 2 pictured are Goliath (larger one) and Arthur. The last pic is Arthur.
