oscar and dovii??

Why would someone do that, oscars don't have teeth and no real way to defend themselves, like sending someone to a knife fight with a rubber chicken.

well honestly at least the person who necro'd this one had something that fit the OP anyhow. Showing how an Oscar got beat to death and all because somehow, MYSTERIOUSLY, the dovii figured out there was 7 inches of space above his divider.

Yep. I would never risk something like that, a toothy terror with a fish half its size.

There are other fish i would keep before i get before a dovii anyway

I just don't get how people think it works lol, the percentage of success stories to horror stories is so wildly disproportionate that its like throwing money off a cliff...

Yep. Im playing with fire having 2 adult size African knives together, but they are both pretty chilled and have space to hide. They also don't have massive teeth to kill each other with

Dude, I had an Oscar get killed by a pair of Convicts years ago and they also took out a Jack Dempsey, then last year I had a Electric BLUE ACARA kill off an Oscar and a Salvini.

Oscars are the punks of the Cichlid world - people just THINK they are mean and aggressive because they don't know what other Nightmare-creatures really lurk in the world of Cichlids

Pound for pound i think male Polleni are second only to dovii in strength. I know somebody who had a polleni 60% of the size of a Jag X Dovii that almost beat the thing to death, and then killed one of his Acaras before being rehomed.

I think there are worse cichlids out there than Polleni, but I never had Polleni s IDK. I saw duanes had a very large one which was kept at bay by a breeding pair of Geophagus brasiliensis, which are only mid-level aggression, about equivalent of a Green Terror. I would probably guess Festae, Umbriferum, Motaguensis, Buttekofferi, 5-Star Generals, and various male Amphilophus would smack a Polleni sideways, but it always depends on individuals rather than the species as a whole

True. But from what i have seen Male Polleni can be real nasty and real big, and are very capable of killing. Cichlids do vary i guess
