Mates for Severum in Juwel Rio 180... is it real ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ime sevs become more aggressive if they're squeezed into too small a tank. Don't know the dimensions of that tank, but if it's 3 ft. or less, as adults you'd have to have a very cozy pair to not have trouble between them, and then you wouldn't want much else in the tank, few smaller dithers, small to medium pleco, a smaller cichlid-- maybe-- and even those could be trouble if the sevs are breeding. 4 ft. 50 gal tank, little better odds, but you'd still be pushing it a bit and would be depending on the pair having to go along with it-- again, not a given.

The ratio of sevs per gallon you can do gets better in a larger tank, larger dimensions. In other words, you might be able to do a group of 5 or 6 or so (depending on particular species) in a 125-- 15-20 gals per fish is still ok in such a tank, but ime it's not scalable down to smaller tanks, more so at less than 4 ft ime.

Single sevs with some other compatible (non-severum) fish in the tank usually do just fine.

Need your or somebody help again ))
It became clear to me about tank size. And I have upgraded to 450L tank (Juwel Rio 400). Consider enough for my Sevs...
So, now my Sevs mates are:
Labeo bicolor 1
SAE (siamese algae eater) - 3
Botia lohachata - 3
Pelvicachromis pulcher-2
The next Thursday are coming:
Guianacara stergiosi - 10
tapajos red head - 6

All the fishes are small. The biggest are Sevs, about 7cm.

Is overstock looming over my tank?
Thanks for help.

You're going to be massively overstocked with three severums, 10 Guianacara, 6 geos, and all those other fish in a ~118 gallon tank. I would scrap the Guianacara or the geos, or drastically cut the numbers of each.

Ok,
maybe the final stuff:
6-10 Guinocanara
6 Geos
3 severums
3 SAE

Another stuff is going out.

please clarify..
Are these stuff still overstock in 120gallons?
6-10 Guinocanara
6 Geos
3 severums

(3 SAE are out too)

Clarification: Those are the same numbers that other people have already stated are too high.

That's like saying:

"How many Oscars can I fit into a 125 gallon?"

"Maybe two, one comfortably"

"OK so I'll only do two."
